This is our History project on the Chinese immigrants that came to Singapore before 19th century .
We are going to talk about the The chinese immigrants' different jobs first , and we will go on to proceed in focusing in two of the jobs -- Rickshaw pullers & Samsui woman .
We will answer the following questions :D
1) Who was the individual early immigrant? Or which was the group of immigrants?
2) Where did the early immigrant(s) come from?
3) When did they come to Singapore?
4) Why did they come to Singapore?
5) How did they contribute to Singapore in the early development as a
trading centre?

What we are focusing on -- rickshaw pullers & samsui woman
The rickshaw pullers and samsui woman .
These two jobs are the focused individual immigrants which we would talk about in our powerpoint . So enjoy ! :D

Chinese coolies
Chinese coolies were from china , with different dialects and came from different parts of china --- Hokkiens , Teochews , Hakkas , Cantonese , Hainanese ,Foochows , Henghua , Shanghainese , Hockchia , they came from their hometown , due to droughts , disasters , for money earning opportunities in Sinapore , or to start a new life .
They have different kinds of jobs , unskilled & skilled . The skilled workers' jobs are Chinese middleman , Coolie agents .
The unskilled people , had all kinds of different jobs --earpicking , merchants , food vendors , richshaw pullers , samsui womans , slaves etc.
Now we are going to present to you what they do at their different jobs to help Singapore grow as a prosperous city .
